Day 2 of being PUMPED
My boyfriend is Type 1 Diabetic, it mean his pancreas no longer produces the insulin required to process the glucose entering his system. He has lived with diabetes for over 8 years and has been using a pump for about 6.
Being his girlfriend, and seeing him deal with this impossible disease everyday made me want to experience a fraction of what being Type 1 Diabetic means. So, we filled a pump with water and attached it to me. For 2 days I’ve been testing my blood sugar and delivering myself “insulin” before I eat. Feeling it enter my body, and adjusting to the large plastic pump that I must wear 24 hours a day.
Tomorrow, will be Day 3, and the final day of me wearing a site and a pump. I love you so much Tayler, and cannot explain how honored I am to be able experience a fraction of your life and to be with you through every high and low that comes with it.
I never thought I’d be able to find a girl who with a simple text post, could bring me to tears and be such an important part of my life. I love you so so much Sarah. And you are my everything and I’m so honoured that you did this for me.
